Eurasian jays are called “Garrulus glandarius” in Latin. Glandarius is the Latin word for acorn, and this is what this bird is eating right now.

This little duckling is already a few weeks old and lives in a lake with a lot of duckweed. After having had a snack, some of it is still on his beak looking almost like a cloverleaf.
