Eurasian coots can be very aggressive in spring. When the mating season starts you can often see them fighting on the water.

In spring, storks come back from the South, build a nest and start to breed. While the hen stays in the nest, the cock here is out getting food for her and his soon to hatch chickens.

Swans are mostly very peaceful animals, but in spring the males become very territorial and try to scare other big water birds out of the lake they consider to be their own. This one just spotted a Canada goose and is rushing straight towards it.

This little duckling is already a few weeks old and lives in a lake with a lot of duckweed. After having had a snack, some of it is still on his beak looking almost like a cloverleaf.
