High atop a willow tree, nestled safely among the swaying branches, two grey heron chicks share their cozy nest. They’re still too young to take to the skies, their wings not yet strong enough for flight—but give it a few more weeks, and they’ll be soaring off on their own grand adventures.
For now, though, life is simple and sweet. The siblings snooze side by side, playfully nudge and peck at one another, and gaze out at the world below as they wait, wide-eyed, for their parents to return with dinner.
It’s a quiet kind of childhood, wrapped in feathers and sky, with just a hint of the wild romance of growing up together in the treetops.
